Take a step back to the days of Old Barnstable with this unique shelving unit. Salvaged from Kings Highway Post office, this piece brings you back to the day when the post office was the social hub of Cape Cod.
Originally hidden behind the key-hole doors for each mail slot, these are the actual post box units made out of solid wood. The outer frame has been brushed with white chalk paint to accentuate the antique contours. The entire piece has been dyed red with an organic vegetable-based dye, and the added color highlights on the inner shelves were painted with an organic chalk paint. The whole unit was sealed with water-based polyurethane in a satin finish.
Make this unit a fixture your space, used in an entryway for sorting children's items or outerwear, an office unit to organize paperwork, or find your own use and let us know what you do with it!
